You're right, Andrea. It's easy to forget that, especially in the entertainment industry, things and people are rarely what they seem. Nonetheless, I like living here, and have some wonderfully real and quality individuals. I hope you enjoy your trip out west...I'm interested to hear about it upon your return. Take care and have a Happy 4th!

Eyes, life, everything ok -- hope the same for you. Writing and survival are just demanding much more time at the moment. xo/jb

Andrea, I read your ping. I was astounded. I say that because I have never met another who felt that way. For these few moments I must just sit and be dazed, for this is my greatest desire. People generally are not capabe of q ing into what it is that I have said. Well, in the future I look forward to talking with you. Thank you so much!

It's a shame the dating pool in your town is so self-involved. I'll keep a good thought that you and your friend are able to find a few diamonds in a sea of costume jewelry!

I forgot to tell you yesterday that I featured your poem in Poet's Weekly Muse. Now I have just featured Mike's as well. Great comment you made there.

I think you're right, Andrea, DC men are very self-absorbed and probably miss out on all the beauty around them. Oh well, their loss. Glad to have you in my circle of friends!

Andrea, it is my pleasure to read your fine words. Many years ago, I lived in Saudi Arabia and recently my daughter spent several years involved in the war as a pilot. I have a deep connection to the Middle East and feel the dust. Thanks, kid, I am good!

Andrea - it was a real pleasure to read this. The grandeur of the Karakoram invests this poem with such a larger-than-life feel, and your sensitive retelling of all the other places in his life lend a texture that makes me feel this man's integrity. And at the risk of repeating myself, the almost sacred act of sharing his tools, his hardware, hammers home the personal connection you feel and that he must also have felt. I leave this poem wishing I had known this man.

Many thanks - and anytime you're in Minneapolis, feel free to ring us. I returned from the east coast just a few weeks ago, but might run out there to see the exhibit at the Library of Congress - Jefferson's Library. I don't suppose you know the dates it's running...
